Meaning & Significance of Changu Lake
In the local Bhutia language, “Tso” means lake and “Mgo” means head. Changu Lake is considered sacred by the Sikkimese people.
According to legends, Buddhist monks once predicted future events by studying the colour of the lake’s waters.
Even today, the lake is believed to be spiritually powerful, and various rituals are performed here during specific festivals.
